1. What is Reiki?
Reiki (ray-key) is a Japanese energy-healing treatment developed my Mikao Usui in the 1800s. Usui was a very successful businessman who had it all—wealth, riches, material objects—but still he wasn’t satisfied.
He took to the mountains and meditated for 21 days straight to find answers! On the 21st day, he discovered how to channel Reiki energy (life-force energy).
According to IARP, Usui desired “to find a method of healing that was unattached to any specific religion and religious belief, so that his system would be accessible to everyone.”
He began “attuning” others who felt called to channel this life-force healing energy that balances our chakras resulting in peace of mind, reduction of anxiety/depression, and physical healing.

2. What can I expect from my Reiki session?
Watch this video to see a sample Reiki session!
Each session brings a unique experience but includes:
• A 45-minute energy healing treatment.
This is where the healing occurs, whether mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual. You may fall asleep, or you may feel energy being activated through vibrations, heat, or even feelings of magnetic pulses throughout your body.
• A 20-minute post-treatment reading.
This is where we identify what is blocking you from living the life you want to live and give you the guidance to obtain inner peace in “the real world”.
3. How much time should I plan for my session?
I recommend scheduling an hour and a half for the session, energy reading, and any setup/breakdown required.
4. What should I wear to my session?
Reiki is all about being comfortable! Therefore, wear exercise clothes or yoga pants or anything you would feel cozy enough to fall asleep in.
***Reiki does not require you to be unclothed. If a practitioner ever says otherwise, use caution.
5. How often should I come in for a Reiki session?
Generally, once a month is good practice. However, if you’re going through a period of emotional turmoil or extreme pain, twice a month is much more effective.
The key here is to listen to what feels right for you. Some people come in once every three months. Some try it once and never do it again. You’re here to figure out what works for you, so trust what your gut tells you. There’s no wrong answer.
